“We Are All on God’s Care Team”
“...that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for
one another.” —1 Corinthians 12:25
1. We have been instructed to love one another. (Romans 12:10)
“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
A. We are to love one another. Love is the bedrock of caring for one another.
B. “Outdoing” here is not a competition; it means proactively honoring another person. Why
don’t we do this?
C. The command to love one another is often distorted by our modern view of love.
2. We have been instructed to forgive one another. (Colossians 3:13)
“Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as
the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
A. Bearing with one another means accepting that people are not perfect and can often be
irritating.
B. The Lord’s forgiveness of us instructs us in how we are to forgive others.
3. We have been instructed to support one another. (Galatians 6:2)
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
A. To do this, we have to determine what the law of Christ is.
B. What is a burden, and how do we determine when it goes beyond a person’s responsibility to
carry alone?
4. We have been instructed to encourage one another. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
A. How are we to encourage one another?
B. What does it mean to build one another up?
